Edwards was fined $50,000 by the NBA for his bowel movements after the Timberwolves' downfall in Denver

Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Guard Anthony Edwards was fined $50,000 by the NBA on Wednesday for a post-game outburst of anger following the team’s elimination from the playoffs in Denver.

Joe Dumars, the NBA’s executive vice president of basketball operations, announced that Edwards was punished for “recklessly swinging a chair in frustration that hit two bystanders as he left the field.” The incident came after the Timberwolves lost Game 5 of their first-round series to eventual champions Nuggets when Edwards missed the crucial 3-point attempt on the buzzer.

Edwards was originally charged by Denver police with third-degree assault, defined as “knowingly or recklessly” assault. He said the chair was in his way and meant no harm to bystanders involved. The charges were dismissed last month, the league said.

Edwards signed a five-year contract extension this summer that could reach $260 million if he makes an All-NBA team. He is currently training with Team USA for the World Cup.
