It’s a fight for which he has made many sacrifices, but is ready to reap the rewards.
“It’s been a long time since I spoke to my family. It’s OK. Inshallah, I’m waiting. Fight and then I go to my family in my country, to my mother, to my family. It’s good.
“But I said before I complete all my plans in my life I have my family, I have my team. I concentrate on my training. I shut down my whole business, I shut down everything. I’ve sold many, many projects and now, two years ago, I’ve started to just focus on my career. Now I’m more focused on this fight, this is one of the best fighters in the world. People have been waiting for this and I have been waiting for this, my team has been waiting for this, my coach has been waiting for this. i like this day Mentally I’m ready for this fight.”
Allazov respects Superbon but doesn’t think he has the guns needed this weekend – while any thought he’s an underdog is quickly dispelled.
“Again, maybe Superbon says so, I’m one of the biggest problems for him,” explained the 29-year-old. “He knows that. I talked to him. I am powerful for him. He has good timing, he has good universal style. I have kicks and power over him. He’s a very good fighter but maybe he makes a little mistake here and that’s a big problem in his fight with me. Now I have changed a lot.”
And Allazov believes his last opponent, Sitthichai, might actually be a tougher challenge than the champion – understandable considering he had to overcome a minor broken leg in that fight.
“For me I say before Sitthichai maybe better than Superbon,” he said. “I hit him, threw punches at him many times and he won’t come down. But he’s really moving forward all the time. He likes to fight with me. He moves in the first and second round and after the coach says go don’t stop KO just KO. You will win this fight. Then he goes forward. I see that he is very powerful. But maybe Superbon will have problems if he continues.”
Some pundits have Allazov as the favorite for the fight and are already talking about a possible route to a second title after the weekend. For the Belarusian fighter, however, the focus remains on this weekend and Superbon.
“Before the fight, we have a fight now, a real fight, and my focus just stays on that fight. A lot of people say that could be good if I go into the 77kg class and win this guy. After I won that fight, inshallah, I spoke about it. Inshallah. I win this fight, this is the best welterweight kickboxing fight.”
