This week, the Wells Fargo Championship heads to historic Quail Hollow.

Designed by George Cobb, the course is a par 71 measuring approximately 7,500 yards with Bermuda grass greens. Course history is very broad here, so we’re going to focus on a few guys who have had success in the past.

This is a stacked field with Rory McIlroy rising as the betting favorite to win the tournament. +700 on FOX Bet.

Now that we’ve started with the basics, let’s move on to the favorites and my absolute portfolio for this tournament.

“The Gimme”

Viktor Hovland (+2000 on FOX Bet)

I love Hovland this week! He hasn’t won a major this season, but he has a T-3 on The Players, a T-10 on Arnold Palmer, and a T-7 on The Masters. He played that course back in 2021 where he finished T-3. He has won shots in 14 disciplines in a row and this course suits his ability well.

“Play the course, not your opponent”

Justin Thomas (+2200 at FOX Bet)

Thomas is currently in a bit of a rut (by his standards), but he’s not playing as badly as some might think. He has shots off the tee in five consecutive tournaments and has over five strokes off the ball in three of his last five tournaments.

We talked about course history in the introduction and Thomas is my favorite of the week when it comes to this category. What better way to turn things around than where he won his first major in 2017? Here, too, he went 4-1 in the President’s Cup in 2022.

“Grab it and Rip it”

Sahith Theegala (+5000 on FOX Bet)

Long hitters are rewarded on this course, which works well for Theegala. And if he runs out, the rough isn’t as bad as some other scary courses (relatively speaking) so he can recover. He’s coming into this tournament well too, winning in five shots straight from the tee on the field. Theegala’s green game was also money, which began with his memorable hit on hole 16 at the masters.
