Ahead of the tournament, the Big Bang e FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ is in countdown mode, tracking the days leading up to the opening match on November 20 between Qatar and Ecuador. Then, 15 minutes before each game, the watch delivers team rosters and player profiles so the wearer can enjoy the details from the comfort of their wrist.
When a game starts, the watch automatically switches to “Match Mode” and activates the “Timeline”, a feature developed exclusively for this watch that allows fans to capture the most memorable and important moments in football.
Here’s how it works: On the outer edge of the dial is a scale divided into five sections, showing the first and second halves, the extra time allowed in each half, and the half-time. When a goal is scored, the watch will show a game event animation with the player’s name and a soccer ball icon will appear at the corresponding minute mark on the dial.
The same happens when there is a yellow card, a red card or a penalty.
If a game goes over regulation time, the clock display will automatically switch to overtime mode and then back to shootout mode if a game goes to penalties.
Each penalty kick is recorded by a soccer ball with a green or red outline to indicate whether the attempt was successful or not. A final “match period animation” shows the end of the game and the final result.
At any point during a game, the wearer can replay these events by scrolling the watch face with the watch’s crown. After five seconds of inactivity, the watch automatically switches to “Low Power Mode” to save battery.
