Five reasons to watch ONE 164: Pacio vs. Brooks

Soccer

Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brooks don’t like each other so if the former jeopardizes his world strawweight title this weekend we can expect fireworks. The headliner was supposed to take place earlier this year but was postponed, leaving the two fighters with only more time for clapping and bad blood. Social media sparring aside, these are two incredibly high-level athletes, lightning fast and with the ability to end fights on the fly. Pacio is undefeated in his last four, Brooks in his last five – that didn’t need any extra spice, but it certainly has – and it’s the fans who benefit.

A monster from the Middle East

Middle Eastern fight fans can indulge in action with Amir Aliakbari in Action Brandon Vera. Aliakbari joined ONE in 2020 and always had his sights set on former champion Vera – a legend of heavyweight MMA around the world and a scalp who would still sit very high – despite being 45 years old now. Aliakbari is three fights into his ONE career and after a rough start he pulled off a win last time out. He’ll look to use his strength and wrestling skills to build some momentum in the heavyweight division. Could a win for Vera set him on course for a final title boost? Or could it be the end of the road for The Truth?

Known enemies are chasing the Grand Prix title

The final of the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix Championship is at stake this weekend and the two men taking part are more than used to battling each other. Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Panpayak Jitmuangnon will meet for the eighth time – with Panpayak claiming victory in four bouts so far. Both men won their semi-finals in impressive fashion and while Superlek can be seen as the player with the better momentum down the road, it really is for everyone.

Kane back in the circle

When a fighter has five fights to their tally and none have left the second round, you can pretty much guarantee an action affair. That’s the case when Senegal’s Oumar Kane returns to the Circle this weekend to take on Uzbekist Jasur Mirzamukhamedov. This is a meeting of two great heavyweight men, with Kane building a worldwide following due to his thundering power and ability to end fights quickly. This weekend he will face his toughest test yet when he takes on Mirzamukhamedov who will try to end the Kane hype.

The last card of the year

What better reason to tune in than knowing this is the final map of 2022. It’s been another amazing year for ONE, and with title fights, Grand Prix finals and plenty of other delicious clashes to come, this will be an incredible way to sign off. Don’t wait until next year for your dose of ONE action – make sure you catch Saturday.
