Bangash – Bhansali Polo claims memorable win at Dubai Challenge Cup 2023


Orbis – Mahra Polo started the game with a 1.5 goal lead and in the second chukker Tomas Palacios increased her score to 2.5.

However, it was Khalid Bin Drai who ended the second chukker with a hat-trick of goals, resulting in a 4-2.5 score in Bin Drai Polo’s favour.

The blue clad players of Bin Drai team maintained their lead in the penultimate chukker by 7 goals to 2.5 and by the end of the last chukker Ali Al Merri and Bin Drai’s Segundo Amadori had put Polo Orbis – Mahra ahead of his competition and secured Bin Drai Polo with 9 – 6.5 the victory.

The final featured a match between Bangash – Bhansali Polo and Habtoor – Ankora Polo.

Jose Riglos for Habtoor Ankora Polo opened the game with two brilliant goals in a row not long after the opposing team’s Tomas Iriarte responded with two penalty shots to finish the first chukker by just 0.5.

The Habtoor – Ankora Polo dominated the first half of the game and maintained their lead by 0.5 goals by the end of the penultimate chukker. However, it was the team in gray – Rishi Bhansali, Tomas Iriarte and two goals from Federico Von Potobsky – who sealed victory for Bangash Bhansali with 11.5 goals to 8.

Mr. Karim Adnan Maksoud, Managing Director of Al Habtoor Motors, awarded the Dubai Challenge Cup 2023 teams. Tomas Iriarte received the Most Valuable Player award and Camerera, ridden by Jose Riglos and owned by the Best Playing Pony, was awarded by Mohammed Al Habtoor.
